Kazakhstan. Astana. What to see and discover.

Astana is the capital of Kazakhstan since 1997 (earlier capital was Almaty). The city is divided into two banks: left and right. Presently, as I am living on the right bank let me introduce some places where you could go if you once find yourself in Astana:).

It’s May month, but when the wind starts in Astana nothing can guarantee you to have a good outdoor time. Always have something like light jacket or else, cause when I was going it was quite warm, but we returned home with rain and strong wind.

Let’s get started with the pictures.

This area is called “Monument Kazak eli” (Monument Kazakh country). The total area of the historical and memorial complex is 5.2 hectares.

Behind you can notice the National Museum. Ticket price (in 2023) for adults – 700 tenge; for students – 500 tenge; for pensioners – 300 tenge.

The height of monument is 91 m which is a sign of the 1991 independence of Kazakhstan. On the top there’s a giant bird, decorated with a golden color on its head – Samruk “guards” the peace of Kazakhstan.

A little further there’s a Pyramid the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation is a pyramid-shaped building designed by the architect Sir Norman Foster. Height: 62 m.

From “Monument Kazak Eli” historical area it takes 10-15 min to reach the Pyramid (on foot)

The Pyramid “Palace of Peace and Accord” is the center of religious studies and religious tolerance. Accommodates the opera hall for 1302 seats. The area of the Pyramid is 28 thousand m², the “Palace of Peace and Accord” – these are conference rooms and exhibition areas equipped with modern equipment, art galleries, presentation complexes and much more.

Highvill buildings area one of the most expensive area along the street A.Baitursynov. Public transport is available. Bus ticket costs 90 tenge.
